eClerx Featured in CRY Honor Roll

In our commitment to the community within which we operate, we have chosen to partner with specific NGOs focused towards causes we believe in strongly. Child rights is one such cause that resonates broadly within the eClerx family, and so in 2006 we partnered with CRY [Child Rights and You] to set up an annual charity program that both firm and employees contribute towards. CRY has a tremendous track record for effective community support, and we have been very impressed by how they have worked with us to ensure maximum benefit for our monetary and time contributions.

eClerx sponsors two specific projects, Diksha and Rachna.

Diksha
Diksha operates in the red light areas in and around Kolkata (West Bengal) - areas fraught with substance abuse, trafficking, and sexual exploitation. Employment options for children as they turn into adults apart from the sex trade are few and far between. Vocational training facilities that are linked to employment / placement do not exist. Working with adolescents, Diksha strives to create an environment of safety and development wherein marginalized adolescents can develop into healthy and independent adults.

Rachana
Rachana's advocacy work covers 70 villages in Pune district (Maharashtra). The project works to ensure that the deprived sections of society, especially children and women, have equal rights and opportunities. Two key impact areas are -

Initiate and reactivate village education committees to ensure enrollment of all drop out girls in non-formal education centers
Strengthen community based organization to create and maintain awareness on health issues in the community, achieve 100% immunization and demand health infrastructure like Public Health Centers (PHC), sub-centers, and safe drinking water from local government bodies
In January 2007, we sponsored a team for the Corporate Challenge - Mumbai Marathon. A team of 20 employees participated in the 7 km dream run to raise funds for CRY.

About CRY
CRY - Child Rights and You, is India's leading advocate for child rights. Over 27 years, CRY has partnered with NGOs, communities, government, and the media to eliminate the root causes of deprivation, exclusion, exploitation, and abuse of children.
