In our commitment to the community within which we operate, we have chosen to partner with specific NGOs focused towards causes we believe in strongly. Child rights is one such cause that resonates broadly within the eClerx family, and so in 2006 we partnered with CRY [Child Rights and You] to set up an annual
funding program that both firm and employees contribute towards. CRY has a tremendous track record for effective community support, and we have been very impressed by how they have worked with us to ensure maximum benefit for our monetary and time contributions.
eClerx sponsors
one specific project –
PREM- People's Rural
Education Movement in
Maharashtra.
PREM
PREM operates in 44 villages in the Melghat region of Amravati District in Maharashtra and aims to empower the tribal communities living on the periphery and multiuse area of the Melghat Tiger Reserve , ensuring their right to life, livelihood and self-development. Through the intervention ,PREM works with the
tribal's to make them understand their rights and inspires them to demand the same from the state, who is in a position and duty bound to uphold the same. This involves engaging with the government and influencing polices such that they work in
favor of the
tribal's and in tune with the environment they live in. This especially in the 22 villages that are threatened by displacement as a result of the area being marked under ‘Project Tiger’ in 1974, the state run scheme that considers jungles as units that can be effective habitats only with isolation of its tribal population. This despite the fact that for centuries the two have survived and thrived together and depletion and encroachment has been seen only in the recent years due to external human activities. PREM also ensures that the tribal community particularly women and children have unrestricted and continuous access to food and health services to reduce malnutrition which is widespread in the area ever since the
tribal's have been refrained access to Minor Forest Produce.
CRY partners this grassroots NGO, with financial and non-financial support. This includes management of funds, project-planning, material requirements, perspective-building programs on child rights, baseline data establishment,
organizational development, advocacy campaigns, linking them to larger alliances and networks, training for skill building, information support, and developing promotional materials among others.
Last year, in 30 villages PREM covered 8335 children under various development programs.

For the last 3 years consecutively, we sponsored a team for the Corporate Challenge - Mumbai
Marathon. A team of 20 employees participated in the 7 km dream run to raise
funds for CRY.
